Ludlow Civic Society

Wednesday 10 April at 4:00pm

Ludlow Methodist Church

Speaker: Colin Richards

Colin Richards is an international heritage consultant and practitioner now managing director of CJR Heritage Services Ltd. He was formerly Head of Conservation and Archaeology for Shropshire Council in the UK and is joint founder of the UK Institute for Historic Building Conservation. He was awarded an MBE for services to conservation by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 2007.

Colin has had a lifelong professional involvement in practical skills training projects working with traditional building craftsmen and women and students both in the workplace and in formal education institutions. This ‘hands on’ approach to the maintenance and relearning of traditional skills and material production has led to partnership working with many international conservation organisations. Projects include working with local communities to repair and reconstruct clay/straw houses in Poland, restoration of the rural folk architecture of Slovenia, conservation of the Saxon Villages World Heritage Sites in Romania and building and firing 15th century style brick kilns along the Great Wall of China.

Tickets — £3.00 (members) and £5.00 (non-members) at the door
